Legal Document Analyzer

The Problem

Hartfield & Associates' junior lawyers spent 4-6 hours per contract on manual review — reading through 50+ page documents to extract key clauses, identify risks, and write summaries. The firm was scaling and couldn't hire fast enough to keep up with contract volume.

The Approach

   Analyzed 200+ previously reviewed contracts to understand the firm's review criteria and risk taxonomy

   Built a document processing pipeline that handles PDFs, Word docs, and scanned images (OCR)

   Used LangChain with GPT-4 to create specialized extraction chains for 15 clause types

   Developed a risk scoring algorithm that flags high-risk clauses with explanations

   Built a React dashboard that presents extracted data, highlights, and allows lawyer annotations

   Integrated with their existing NetDocuments DMS via API
